Hooded sun shirt

Why We Built a Hooded Sun Shirt That Does Not Feel Like a Plastic Bag

Sun shirts are everywhere now. Most of them are made from polyester that feels like a tent. It blocks UV but you sweat through it in ten minutes. We built something different. Here is what the Camorado hooded sun shirt actually is and why we made it.

The Fabric

The hooded sun shirt is a lightweight performance blend. It is breathable, moisture-wicking, and rated UPF 50+. That means it blocks 98 percent of UV radiation. The fabric is soft enough to wear all day without feeling like you are wrapped in a tarp.

It is not cotton. Cotton holds sweat and takes hours to dry. It is not thick polyester. Thick polyester traps heat. The sun shirt hits a middle ground: light enough to breathe, structured enough to drape like a normal shirt instead of clinging to your back.

The Hood

Most sun shirts stop at the collar. We added a hood for the same reason runners and climbers wear them: your neck and ears burn first. The hood is lightweight and fits under a hat or helmet. It does not have a drawstring. Nothing to snag, nothing to adjust, nothing to lose.

The hood also works for bug protection. In mosquitos or black fly country, a hooded sun shirt beats bug spray that washes off in two hours.

The Fit

The cut is athletic but not tight. It is long enough to stay tucked or cover your belt line. The sleeves have enough room to roll up to the elbow without cutting off circulation. It works as a base layer under a hoodie or jacket and it works on its own in 90-degree heat.

Why We Print Patterns on It

Most sun shirts come in solid colors. Solid colors do not break up shape. They also show every sweat stain and wrinkle. A pattern hides wear, hides wrinkles, and looks better after a full day outside.

We print Warden, Sunspear, Nomad, and other patterns on the sun shirt so you can match your terrain or just wear something that looks better than a neon athletic shirt. The patterns are dye-sublimated, which means the ink sits in the fabric instead of on top of it. It does not crack, peel, or fade in the wash.

What It Is Good For

The hooded sun shirt works for hiking, fishing, range days, yard work, and any activity where you are in the sun for more than an hour. The UPF 50+ rating means you do not need sunscreen on your arms, neck, or torso. The hood covers your ears and the back of your neck.

It is not a cold-weather piece. It is not a rain shell. It is a hot-weather, high-sun layer that keeps you covered without overheating.

How It Compares

Compared to a standard cotton t-shirt: it dries faster, blocks UV, and weighs less.

Compared to a thick polyester sun shirt: it breathes better, feels softer, and does not sound like a parachute when you move.

Compared to going shirtless: it keeps you from getting burned. That should be enough.

The Bottom Line

The Camorado hooded sun shirt is a UPF 50+, moisture-wicking, hooded layer that blocks sun without trapping heat. It comes in patterns that look good and break up shape. It is comfortable. That is it.

If you need sun protection and you are tired of wearing a plastic bag, this is the replacement.
